“The Fort to Port Saga”

Everyday : Preferably 8am – 10 am (Earlier the better); 4.30pm – 6.30pm

We are flexible, we can customize the walk according to your choice. 

Our fees is reasonable. No limits on minimum group size (even if it is one person, we conduct the walk), but we prefer 5-10 as the ideal group size.

If it’s a larger group, please talk to us in advance, we can arrange the facilities and help you avail group rates advantage.
The walk is approximately 3kms in distance, we recommend you to wear comfortable shoes/footwear, cotton clothes, carry a bottle of water, chocolates/snacks etc. Fort is high on humidity most of the days, walk can be tiring, bring your set of sunscreens.
Our Fort Cochin Heritage Walk covers 31 historical and heritage locations in the Fort. We guide you through the history of Fort Cochin from 1341 to present and share with you the social, cultural and political impact of these foreign association and the historical remains of their settlement starting with the Portuguese from 1500, then the Dutch from 1663 and the British from 1795. The locations we will be explaining in the tour will paint for you a beautiful picture of our Fort Cochin’s glorious and colorful past.

We start the tour from Burgher Street then go around the Bastion Street to the historical Santa Cruz Basilica. Then we go down the Santa Cruz High School Road, crossing the Fire station, the High school, the Bastion, the awe inspiring old streets with its melancholy memories and stories.

Then we visit the grand seat of early Catholicism of India, the Cochin Bishop House.
Further down we see the old beach, Dutch Cemetery, the bastions which used to  jett into the sea, the magnificent Parade Ground, the Hortus Malabaricus compiler Van Rheed’s residence, then the prestigious Cochin Club.

Finally we are in the St. Francis Church, where the world comes to! Then we see the Bastion Bungalow, the monuments and memorial, Chinese Fishing Nets and atlast we are at the mouth of the finest harbour of the East.
